Terms of use
Version of 10 October 2026.
In brief
stavelens helps you discover wedding photographers whose work matches your taste. The service is free for couples. The Finder suggests photographers based solely on your taste. We do not vet photographers: before you commit, it is up to you to make sure that the one you choose is reliable. Photographers are independent professionals, and it is with them that you enter into your contract. These few principles are set out in more detail below.
1. Who we are
stavelens.com and the Finder are operated by stavelens Sàrl, a Swiss limited liability company, Rue Saint-Pierre 2, 1700 Fribourg, Switzerland, UID CHE-486.072.610 ("stavelens", "we", "us"). For any question: [email protected] or the contact page.
2. Acceptance
You accept these terms by ticking the box provided for this purpose before starting a Finder session. They apply to each of your uses of the site, including subsequent sessions.
To save you from ticking the box every time, your browser may remember your acceptance for a maximum of twelve months, for the same version of the text. The box is then replaced by a line showing the date of your acceptance and the version of the text, with a link to read it again; by starting the session you accept the terms for that session. Any new version is shown to you with an empty box.
We keep a record of each acceptance (version, date, language), as described in the Privacy policy. The site is intended for adults. These terms exist in several languages; in the event of any difference in interpretation, the French version shall prevail.
3. What stavelens does
stavelens is a photographer discovery service. You rate wedding photos without knowing who took them, and the Finder then presents the member photographers whose images match the preferences expressed during your session.
stavelens is not a photography agency, a wedding planner or a booking service. We do not sell any photography services, we do not collect any payment on behalf of photographers and we do not receive any commission on their services.
All member photographers pay the same annual membership fee to take part in the service. This fee is not a certification, a recommendation or a guarantee, and no photographer can pay to influence your results or to be ranked higher in them.
4. The Finder
Taste is not an exact science. Each session is based on the photos you rate at that time, and its results change with the member photographers and with the improvements we make to the Finder.
The Finder matches styles. It does not rank photographers by quality, price or reliability, it does not know their availability, and it only presents stavelens member photographers. Its results reflect solely the match between the preferences expressed during your session and the images of member photographers: they say nothing about a photographer's reliability. They are a starting point for your own research, not a recommendation or a certification.
Where a country has few member photographers, the selection may be supplemented with photographers from nearby countries; a message informs you of this.
The number of sessions per person is limited, so that the service remains fair. Your latest results are stored in your browser and may disappear if you clear your browsing data.
5. Photographers
Each photographer is an independent professional, solely responsible for their services, their prices and the information they publish. This information is provided by the photographers themselves; we display it without guaranteeing that it is complete, accurate or up to date.
We do not vet photographers. Before images are published, we check that they meet our publication criteria; this is neither a vetting of the photographer nor a certification of their work. For everything else, we rely on the photographers' own declarations: their identity, their experience, their business, their insurance and the fact that their photos come from real weddings. We do not check their reliability, their solvency, their reputation, their availability or their ability to perform a service.
The checks are yours to make. Before you commit, take the time to check the photographer as you would any service provider: meet them, ask to see several complete wedding stories, look into their reputation and reviews, ask former clients for references, make sure their business exists, and sign a written contract before paying a deposit. If you choose a photographer based in another country, also look into the conditions of their engagement (travel, contract, payment).
Everything concerning your relationship with a photographer (quote, contract, payment, service, delivery of photos) is settled directly between you and them. stavelens is not a party to that contract, is not involved in its negotiation or its performance, and is not liable for it. This applies in particular if a photographer cancels, does not show up on the wedding day, fails to honour their commitments or does not deliver the agreed photos.
You may report a photographer to us at [email protected]. We may take this into account in managing the directory, without being obliged to intervene in your dispute with the photographer.
6. Intellectual property
The photos published on stavelens belong to their authors, who authorise us to display them. You may view and rate them, but you may not download, copy or reuse them without their author's consent.
The site, its texts, its design, its algorithms, its data and the STAVELENS trademark belong to us. You may use the site for your personal needs; any other use, reproduction or extraction requires our written consent.
7. Use of the site
The site is intended for your own search for a photographer. You may not use it by means of robots or automated programs, extract its data, circumvent its limits or protections, attempt to identify photographers before the results or to influence those results, or use it for solicitation or commercial purposes. We may restrict access to the site in the event of use contrary to these rules.
8. Changes to the service
stavelens keeps evolving. We may modify, suspend or discontinue all or part of the site at any time. We do our best to keep it running without interruption, but cannot guarantee this.
9. Liability
The Finder is free and provided as is. To the extent permitted by law, we give no guarantee as to its results, and we are not liable for indirect damage, for the acts or omissions of photographers or other third parties, or for the choice of a photographer and the consequences of that choice.
Links to photographers' websites or other websites are provided for your convenience; we do not control their content.
10. Copyright and reports
If you believe that content on the site infringes your rights (copyright, image rights, privacy), write to us at [email protected] stating your contact details, the content concerned and your rights in it. We examine each request and may remove the content or forward the request to the photographer concerned.
11. Personal data
The Finder works without an account and without an e-mail address. You may create an optional account to find your searches again; you may delete it at any time from your account page. The processing of data is described in the Privacy policy.
12. Changes
We may amend these terms. Any material change is announced on the site at least thirty days in advance; the new version is then shown to you with an empty box. Corrections of form or changes required by law may apply immediately.
13. Governing law and place of jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Swiss law. The place of jurisdiction is Fribourg, subject to the mandatory rules applicable to consumers.
If you encounter a problem, write to us first: most questions are easily resolved. We will reply within thirty days.
14. Miscellaneous
Should any clause be held invalid, the others remain applicable. We may transfer the operation of the site and these terms to a company that takes over our business; we will indicate this on the site.
For any question: [email protected].
